Tilt Wall Construction

McSal’s close collaboration with contractors and knowledge of regional preferences and details is key to helping our clients achieve successful tilt-wall projects.

Tilt-wall, or tilt-up, construction is a form of concrete construction where large exterior wall panels are cast on-site flat on the ground—similar to a slab-on-grade—and then “tilted up” into place. This method creates both the building’s exterior façade and load-bearing perimeter walls, often eliminating the need for columns.

At McNamara • Salvia, we have designed tilt-wall projects for a wide range of uses, including medical office buildings, retail spaces, logistics facilities, data centers, warehouses, and aerospace facilities. Because the exterior structure also serves as the finished façade, we work closely with architects to ensure a seamless and visually appealing design. Interior structural systems typically incorporate joists, precast concrete, or structural steel, allowing for efficient, flexible layouts.
