Cold Form Metal Framing

McSal can design light-gauge bearing wall systems for rapid construction using our knowledge of preferred construction details and off-site prefabrication opportunities.

Cold-formed steel (CFS), also known as light-gauge steel framing, can serve as either a load-bearing or non-load-bearing structural material. Beyond load-bearing walls, it is commonly used for exterior wall construction, demising partitions, and tenant fit-out elements.

CFS is often the material of choice for low- and mid-rise buildings where traditional wood framing may be limited by code or fire-rating requirements. When paired with long-span metal deck or hollow-core precast planks, it provides an efficient, durable solution for residential buildings, senior housing, hotels, and similar projects.

In addition to primary structural systems, McNamara • Salvia regularly supports architects and clients with secondary or non-load-bearing CFS elements—ensuring optimal performance, compliance, and design flexibility across all types of projects.
