The Phillip and Susan Ragon Building at Massachusetts General Hospital is a 17-story state-of-the-art clinical care building on MGH’s campus. The 2,000,000 SF, two-tower development includes 482 single-bed inpatient rooms and will be home to the Mass General Cancer Center and the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center. In addition, there is a six-story below-grade parking garage with 864 spaces, a materials management tunnel connecting to the campus, and a 240-foot-long, two-story bridge for patient and visitor transport between buildings. The structure was designed to function ‘as an island’ during a natural disaster and is touted as one of the most progressive healthcare designs of the 21st Century for future climate change and environmental resiliency.
