Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital’s five-story inpatient addition is left of the hospital’s current main entrance. The 107,700 SF expansion includes 78 new inpatient beds, ambulatory and clinical support spaces, an extended recovery unit, and new radiology/MRI capacity. The project includes 15,700 SF of renovations in areas impacted by the new tower. The creative structural system extends 60 feet over the existing structure and uses slide bearing connections to transfer gravity loads without increasing lateral loads on the existing building.
