Gables Seaport is the second completed phase, joining the previously-existing, Waterside Place development in Boston’s Seaport District. The 23-story high-rise residential tower consists of 307 units ranging from studios through three-bedroom layouts. A “core-first” construction method was used for the 325,000 SF structure to cut costs and expedite completion. This method combines a concrete core with outrigger lateral steel framing that connect to steel embed plates cast in the core walls, essentially creating a building within a building. It is complete with 3,500 SF of ground-floor retail, a second-level parking garage for 84 vehicles and a public stair that enriches the pedestrian flow of an otherwise segregated intersection.
