The Downtown Crossing MBTA headhouse was rebuilt over the previously existing orange line entry. In addition to the enhanced entrance, the new construction added an amphitheater and a 1,000 SF public plaza to the heart of one of Boston’s foot-traffic-heavy streets. The triangular structure’s shape creates a small urban amphitheater with seating and a low platform at the base for street shows, performances, and a variety of other uses.
