A founder of McNamara • Salvia, Mr. Salvia has practiced structural engineering in Boston for more than 45 years. With experience in virtually all types of structures, he has designed many of New England’s most widely-recognized projects, such as: One and Two International Place, the 46- and 36-story postmodern skyscrapers in the Financial District in Boston, MA, the Ellison Building, a 24-story skyscraper listed among Massachusetts General Hospital’s campus in Boston, MA, the American Dream Meadowlands, 3,000,000 GLA, featuring an 800 foot long by 16-story high indoor ski hill, 3-story tall Ferris wheel, indoor hockey rink, 300 seat performing arts center, 180,000 square-foot movie theater complex, with an indoor water and amusement park in East Rutherford, NJ, and Jade Signature Tower, a 60-story luxury condominium tower built over 3 levels of below grade parking on the Sunny Isles Beach – the excavation being the deepest building excavation in Florida.
A pioneer in his field, he helps bridge the gap for developers and owners with his use of value engineering techniques. His particular expertise is in building systems and in making them ‘work’. He constantly searches for innovative ideas to make the structure more affordable and to reduce construction time.
Highly respected and an industry leader, Joe consistently creates and delivers cost-effective services and programs that help drive McNamara • Salvia’s success.
