20 Long Slip is a 50-story residential building located at the edge of the Hudson River in the Newport area of Jersey City. The structure’s form is characterized by its 360-degree undulating balcony which provides each residence with its own private space to take in the views. There are over 500 apartments, indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, and ground floor retail. The project is the first phase of a larger development that will eventually provide parking and a total of 1,100 residential units.
The structural efficiency of the reinforced concrete tower was integral to the overall design. The amorphous look of the building is developed by repeating the same three variations in the wraparound balcony while the primary structure remains consistent throughout.
